So now that you have defined your goals, are motivated, and have read some web basics you are ready to begin.  There are many steps involved and I have found getting organized is the key.
The first thing to do is purchase paper supplies:

(1.) Notebook, a stack of loose leaf paper, notecards w/holder and  a 3-ring binder.

Another item that you need is a

(2.) Computer,
even though these days everyone seems to have a one.  If you don't have a computer or you need to upgrade to a more sophisticated one, check out 'computers for all', as they make buying computers available to anyone.

They are a necessity if you are going to have a Home-Based Internet Business, just for
the time and trouble it takes to go to the local library even though if determined enough a person could.

Third, set up a

(3.) Filing System,
in your computers documents file.  Your filing system can be anything you want it to be and is very important for organization but I have found that nothing beats the notebook, pen and paper for recording plans, objectives and ideas.  Set up your filing system
in your computer but organize your notebook to 'organize yourself'.

Open your 'My Documents' file and then open a 'new folder' and label it with your business name.. In that folder you can organize files in such a way, that every thing is at your fingertips.

Have a Folder for the different web sites that require pass words & user names and label them properly and I have a 'New Folder' for each company that I do business with and in that folder I have folders for the site URL's, my password and user name, html code for different banners or text.
Getting Started with some Web Basics:
Make your website simple, clear and easy to understand
Within three minutes, the visitor should be able to tell what you sell
Have a clean Description and title for your web page
Give reasons for visitors to buy from you or visit your site
Explain the difference between you and your competitor
Have your website built by a professional designer
Host your website with a reputed hosting company
Color scheme is important. Have a color that suits your business and give it a professional look. Avoid funky colors
Avoid too much graphics. Use them sparingly if you want to use graphics
Design for visitors. Not for the search engines
Maintain a consistent look on all pages. Use the same color, same font, and same navigation bar
Have a site map so that visitors might not get lost
Check and make sure the font size is readable
Avoid too much information or images in your home page
Have individual pages for services, about and contact page. Do not mix all in one single page
Use standard colors, layout and links. Visitors are used to the standard look like blue underline is a link
Make it easy for visitors to reach your home page and from any where in your site. Have clear headings.
Include H1, H2 tags
Remind your visitors to bookmark your website

When you first get involved with a company and you follow an organized filing system, you won't ever be at a loss when you go back to a site that you know you are a member of but can't remember your particular info.  I typically use the same information but each site is different, in that some require passwords of 6 or more, some want at least 8, some use characters and numbers, etc.

I have a Folder labeled 'Email' that I record my email addresses with user name and password.  There is alot of cross referencing but you will save yourself so much time, if you start from the beginning and record your information EVERY time you set up any kind of an account.

I also have another folder labeled 'Companies' where I just jot down the name and URL of a company that I sign up with and it is just a one sheet list.  A good program like Excel from Microsoft comes in very handy for setting up all kinds of list and organizing everything for cross referencing.

(4.) Business License:  Typically, having a Home-Based Internet Business that you run from your home with your computer, with no outside traffic coming to your place of business, you don't need an okay from the city.  But you will need a business license.  It isn't required but it is an very important part of your Internet Business because it does establish the fact that you are serious and you are determined to succeed in your business endeavor.

(5.)  Separate Bank Account:   Keeping a separate bank account for your business is just good business sense.  What you purchase for your business and what you receive as income from business sales is all together in one set of books..  One record and is much more easily probable to the IRS when tax time comes and you file your taxes.  Many banks now adays open accounts for free and you can decide to not purchase checks and just use the debit card and the account won't cost you any extra money.

(6.)  Paying Taxes and Keeping Records.   I look at taxes as a good thing because if you are paying taxes then that means you are making some money, which is the whole point.  Get your business license and keep excellent records of your expenses.  You can buy a good book or go to the irs.com site and see what is allowable and have a separate folder in your 'paper' file cabinet for all your receipts.  If you keep a records journal up to date you won't be panicked at the end of the year to get it all together, recorded, and tallied for the IRS by April 15!

(7.) Credit Card:  Having a  Credit Card  that is just for your business is important, I think, so that you can purchase the things you need for your business and keep it all separate from your personal accounts.  Some of the programs that you will purchase are one time payments and some are monthly and setting up an automatic withdrawal is convenient and also a good way to keep records, but sometimes that is the only way a company will handle your business.

I am not talking about running up a big charge card bill and being irresponsible in your purchases.  Always, only purchase what you can afford to; what you have set up in your budget to handle.  Before you start making money on line, your personal finances will determine what you can afford to spend.

When you have something to sell, you need a secure way for your potential customers to purchase from you.

(8.) Paypal and StormPay  are  very reputable companies that handle that for you.  Also, if you don't have a credit card, your paypal account can be used to pay for things that you purchase, not just for collecting money from customers.

The BEST ones are PayPal  or Storm Pay  (StormPay is one of the hottest income opportunities on the Internet!) These are by far the two most commonly used and most widely recognized.

PayPal  even boasts (and quite correctly!) that they are the “easiest way to send money online!”  You can simply get a FREE PayPal account by  clicking here  and then once verified, you can select “Merchant Services” at the TOP MENU.

When it opens to that page, you can then select “Key Features” section and the link “Buy Now Buttons” and get the code in just a few seconds that you can then add to your 1StepSystem Back Office so that you can have the PayPal payment option easily installed and people can start sending you $500 cash by PayPal all day long!
